Russia vs Syria Prediction and Betting Tips | 19th November 2024
Russia host Syria at the Volgograd Arena in Volgograd on Tuesday for an international friendly, aiming to wrap up the year by continuing their winning run.
Banned from competing in all footballing events since 2022, the Sbornaya have engaged themselves in a series of friendly matches ever since.
This year, they've played four so far, and won them all convincingly. It began with a 4-0 drubbing of Serbia, followed by an identical victory over neighbors Belarus a few months later. In September, Vietnam went down 3-0 to Russia, who then picked up their biggest victory of modern era by thumping Brunei with 11 goals.
By contrast, Syria have had a really busy year, playing in 13 games across various competitions. They started off with the Asian Cup, then crusied through the second round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, followed by mini tournaments - Intercontinental Cup and King's Cup.
During this run, they lost only four times, excluding the penalty shootout defeat to Iran in the Asia Cup last-16. Their most recent encounter, coming against Thailand, was a loss indeed, as the Qasioun Eagles went down 2-1.
Head coach Jose Lana has called up 23 players for their friendly against Russia, including key forward Mahmoud Al-Mawas, who has bagged 16 goals from 97 games.
