Ruud van Nistelrooy following Sir Alex Ferguson's golden rule at Manchester United - Reports
Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly following Sir Alex Ferguson's golden rule at Manchester United during his ongoing tenure as the club's interim manager. The 48-year-old Dutchman was appointed after Erik ten Hag was dismissed from his role as head coach on October 28.
In his first match as interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy led the squad at Old Trafford to a 5-2 win against Leicester City in the Round of 16 of the EFL Club on October 30.
The Red Devils have already appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach and the current Sporting CP manager will be joining the Premier League side on November 11 until June 2027 with an option of an additional year once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club.
During his time at Old Trafford as the interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly trying to incorporate Sir Alex Ferguson's wisdom to mark a successful run. While speaking ahead of Manchester United's Premier League clash with Chelsea on November 3, the Dutch coach said as per The Mirror (via Manchester Evening News):
"Ferguson said; 'No one is bigger than the club'. Anyone can shout it. But if you then, as Ferguson did, give substance to your own words with every decision, every choice, it becomes different."
Van Nistelrooy also spoke about the values imparted by Sir Alex Ferguson including acknowledging and interacting with fans, which he is implementing himself and said:
"Then players know; 'This is how it works here'. Take the interaction with supporters. Always thanking people after a game, good or bad. Or at hotels where we come and where there are fans. Just handing out an autograph. Take a photo."
Ruud van Nistelrooy arrived at Manchester United in 2001 from PSV Eindhoven and stayed at Old Trafford till 2006. During his tenure as a player at Old Trafford, the former centre forward recorded 150 goals and 30 assists in 219 appearances across competitions while winning the 2002–03 Premier League, the 2003-04 FA Cup, the 2005-06 Football League Cup and the 2003 FA Community Shield.
Alan Shearer's predictions on Manchester United vs Chelsea in the Premier League
Alan Shearer has made his predictions for Manchester United's Premier League clash against Chelsea on Sunday, November 3, at Old Trafford. The Newcastle United icon claimed that the Red Devils' homeground will have a more hopeful atmosphere specially with their recent victory in the EFL Cup following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag. Shearer wrote (via Betfair):
"When a manager leaves and another comes in, there'll be a different atmosphere, a renewed hope and belief at Old Trafford on Sunday, with or without Amorim, especially after Man United scored five goals in the Carabao Cup. There'll be more hope going into the game this weekend than there was last week against West Ham and that could really energise the players on the pitch."
Alan Shearer predicted a score draw and explained:
"I was at St James' for Chelsea's trip in midweek, and it was a completely changed team from the league game between the two, and the side he puts out against Man United will be different again."
"It's a tough one to call and probably why I'll go for a score draw. I fancy both teams to score because both teams can improve defensively, and the added detail of a new manager in the dugout at Old Trafford for the first in the Premier League, whether that's Ruben or Ruud, means Man Utd can get something out of this game," added Shearer.
Manchester United have won 83 out of the 195 matches against Chelsea, who have managed 56 victories. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last 11 clashes at home against the Blues in the Premier League.
