Sanjoy Sen back as Mohammedan Sporting coach
Sanjoy Sen is back as coach of struggling promoted I-League side Mohammedan Sporting Club from Kolkata after they club fired their now former Nigerian coach Moshood Bola Abdul Aziz.
Sanjoy Sen returns to Mohammedan Sporting after he had earned them their I-League promotion last season as the second-placed side behind Rangdajied United FC at the final round in Bangalore, but he left for personal reasons as he couldn’t commit full-time to coach Mohammedan Sporting in the I-League and across all other tournaments.
In came Nigerian Moshood Bola Abdul Aziz ahead of this season and a number of big signings to mark a successful return to the I-League big stage, but things haven’t gone well with Mohammedan Sporting which had kept Aziz’s head on the chopping block for a while with Sunday’s 1-3 loss to bottom side Churchill Brothers SC being the final nail in the coffin.
Mohammedan Sporting are currently 11th amongst 13 teams in the I-League with 13 points from 13 matches.
Sanjoy Sen had his first interaction with his new, old team today; but he will only takeover the squad on December 30, the day after Mohammedan Sporting play East Bengal Club in the Calcutta Premier Division – Super 12.
