Scolari flags new faces in Brazil squad
Rio de Janeiro, Jan 30: Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said new faces could be added to his squad for the Selecao’s March friendly against South Africa.
“We are closely watching players with a view to choosing a squad against South Africa on March 5,” Xinhua quoted Scolari as saying on Brazil’s football confederation (CBF) website Wednesday.
“I can say in advance that there might be some changes.”
The comments give hope to AC Milan veteran Kaka and Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho, both absent from Brazil’s Confederations Cup triumph last June, of playing in the World Cup.
The friendly in Johannesburg will be Brazil’s last fixture before Scolari chooses his World Cup squad May 7.
