Rumours: Manchester United chasing another Everton defender after Leighton Baines

Seamus Coleman

Manchester United are reportedly chasing Seamus Coleman now, as David Moyes looks set to raid his former club once again to bolster his beleaguered side.

Coleman has been in inspired form for Everton this season, catching the eye with a series of fantastic performances down the right-hand side of the pitch.

Moyes signed him for Everton for just £60,000 in 2008 from Sligo Rovers in Ireland and is looking to this time bring the defender to Old Trafford.

The United manager has already raided the club he left last summer once this season, paying £27.5million for Marouane Fellaini and has been continually linked with a move for Leighton Baines.

That move has been repeatedly rebuffed by Everton, so Moyes has turned his attentions to the other flank in the hope of enjoying more success, the Mirror reports.

He will face competition from Arsenal for the Irish full-back, who have identified Coleman as their preferred choice to replace Bacary Sagna in the summer, with the Frenchman due to leave when his contract expires.

But Moyes hopes his personal connection with Coleman will help convince him to choose a move to Old Trafford, with a £15m package being prepared to tempt the Toffees to sell.

Seamus Coleman is Everton’s second highest top-scorer this season behind Romelu Lukaku having scored five times this season, with a conversion rate of 26.3%.
