Sevilla 3-2 Real Madrid: Player Ratings

Sevilla v Real Madrid - La Liga
Real Madrid suffered their sixth defeat in the league this campaign

Sevilla beat Real Madrid 3-2 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in a midweek league fixture to keep their hopes of securing a European place alive. Goals from Wissam Ben Yedder and Miguel Layun gave the Andalusians a two-goal advantage at halftime.

Similarly, luck was on their side when Sergio Ramos sent his penalty crashing into the woodwork before Sevilla practically wrapped up the tie with a third goal that was helped by a deflection of Ramos.

But, Real had not given up just yet as a goal from Borja Mayoral in the final stages sparked a comeback from the Galacticos. However, they fell short despite Ramos converting his spot kick in the 95th minute, running out of time as Sevilla clinched the win.

The defeat for Madrid meant that Zidane's men ruined their chances of going level on points with Atletico Madrid as they remain three points behind their city rivals on the league table.

On that note, here is a look at the player ratings:

Sergio Escudero - 7/10

Escudero was remarkable defensively, breaking up Real's attack on several instances as he completed four interceptions.

The Argentinian combated the threat of Los Blancos attack very well, putting the ball out of danger as he made six clearances.

Gabriel Mercado - 7/10

Steven N'Zonzi - 7/10

N'Zonzi pass to Layun helped in laying the foundation for the second goal and giving Sevilla a commanding lead at the break. His aerial advantage came into play massively as he outmuscled his opponents, winning four aerial duels in the middle of the park.

Guido Pizarro - 6/10

Pizarro did a good job in midfield, winning the ball back but at the same time, he was very rash and reckless in his challenges as he committed five fouls that deservingly brought him a yellow card.

The 29-year-old put in a consistent performance, being present in the attacking third of the pitch, creating and setting up chances for both himself and also his teammates.
