Shahid Khan purchases Fulham FC
Fulham Football Club has been bought by Pakistan-born billionaire Shahid Khan.
Fulham’s previous owner, Mohammed Al-Fayed, has sold the club to Mr.Khan for a whopping price of £150 million. This deal has been approved by the Barclays Premier League, giving Khan a hundred percent ownership of the club.
Known to be an avid sports fan, Shahid Khan is also the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, which is an NFL team in America. At a net worth of $2.5 billion, he stands at 179 in Forbes list of 400 richest people in America.
Thanking Mr.Fayad for the opportunity, Shahid Khan placed himself as only a custodian of the team.
He said, “Fulham is the perfect club at the perfect time for me. I want to be clear, I do not view myself so much as the owner of Fulham, but a custodian of the club on behalf of its fans.
“My priority is to ensure the club and Craven Cottage each have a viable and sustainable Premier League future that fans of present and future generations can be proud of.”
He promised to manage the club’s financial matters with diligence and also stated his interest in developing ground-based community programs that will help immensely in the club’s future.
Mohammad Al-Fayed also praised the credentials of Khan, believing that as a successful businessman and sports lover, he would be the perfect person to take the club forward. He requested all the fans to welcome Khan as the new guardian of their beloved club.
