Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren has rebuffed rumours that he is set for a summer transfer to Premier League rivals Liverpool and announced he is happy with life at St. Mary’s.

The Croatian international has become an integral member of Mauricio Pochettino’s side following his move from Lyon in June of 2013 and has enjoyed an excellent debut season in England’s top flight.

Like many of the Saints’ highly rated players, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the south-coast outfit, with their eighth place finish having attracted a number of admiring glances.

However, although Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with the defender as he looks to strengthen his defensive line ahead of their Champions League campaign, Lovren has insisted nothing has been agreed and the reports are speculation at this stage.

“I also heard something about that. I follow the media and I saw that Liverpool is allegedly interested in me. But that is all that I know so far.

“I feel great at Southampton and my contract is valid for the next three years. So the only thing I can say right now is that the club is the one who decides,” he told reporters.

Southampton are battling to hold onto a number of players, with Liverpool also interested in Adam Lallana, while Luke Shaw has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.

Although the club have insisted they do not need to sell, if significant bids from prestigious clubs are received they may be powerless to prevent a flurry of departures.

Dejan Lovren won 98 aerial duels in the Premier League last season, only Martin Skrtel (125) won more in Liverpool’s squad.
