Rumour: Southampton’s Adam Lallana confident of securing move to Liverpool

Adam Lallana: The heart of the Saints’ midfield

Southampton’s midfield talent, Adam Lallana, is confident that he will secure a move to Liverpool soon, writes the Daily Star.

Lallana has been the subject of intense speculation, after it emerged that Liverpool made a bid for him a few weeks ago. The bid was roughly in the region of £20 million, though was rebuffed by the Saints hierarchy, with the board wanting more in the region of £25 million for the England international.

Lallana, who was reportedly ready to hand in a transfer request amid Liverpool interest, was called up to the England World Cup squad and Brendan Rodgers is eager to bring the midfielder to Anfield before the tournament commences, in-order to avoid his price-tag rising up should he put on a good show in Brazil.

Lallana also featured on a six-man shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award recently that eventually went to Luis Suarez. His performances this season have attracted a lot of attention and he has been linked with a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Rodgers has stolen the march on other sides and is contemplating whether to meet Southampton’s demands of a higher fee for Lallana’s services, who is is contracted to Southampton until 2018.
