Sporting Clube de Goa kick off pre-season training
I-League side Sporting Clube de Goa kicked off their pre-season practice at Duler ground in Mapusa today. It was an interesting morning as new innovative training methods were added to the session by Spanish head Coach Óscar Bruzón Barreras, such as using tennis balls to improve technique and a rugby ball for quick reactions.Oscar, who had a very good first few months at the Flaming Orange, also continued with the periodisation training system, which he introduced last year after joining Sporting Clube.
New physiotherapist Brian D’Costa was welcomed to the squad and he joins the existing physio Abhinandan Chatterjee as part of the backroom staff.
Oscar’s coaching team, which includes technical director Alex Alvares, was boosted with the addition of Norbert Gonsalves from Pune FC, while manager Anju Albuerquerque begins his fifteenth season with the club.
On Monday, the club had a special mass at Don Bosco in Panjim to welcome the players back for pre-season, which was attended by President Peter Vaz and CEO Victor Fernandes, while the Academy players were also present.
