Sporting Clube de Goa win Goan Super Cup
Sporting Clube de Goa won the GFA Goan Super Cup through a last-gasp Victorino Fernandes goal against a young Sesa Football Academy in the final at the Duler Ground in Mapusa yesterday afternoon.
Victorino Fernandes for Sporting Clube de Goa and teenager Chukwudi Chukwuma for Sesa Football Academy were the danger men on both sides with Victorino in the end proving the difference between the two sides with his last minute winner.
Navelim MLA Avertano Futardo was the chief guest and gave away the winner’s trophy in the presence of GFA executive members Benjamin Silva (Velim MLA), Elvis Gomes (South vice-president), Lavinio Rebello (north vice-president), Babli Mandrekar, Welwyn Menezes, Alirio Lobo, Sanjiv Nagvekar, Anthony Pango, Uday Lingudkar and Gajanan Kerkar.
During half-time the winners and runners-up trophies of already concluded GFA tournaments were handed out: U-20 Taca Goa 2nd Division: Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao (winners), Dunes SC Arambol (runners-up); U-20 Taca Goa 1st Division: Salgaocar SC (winners), Sesa Football Academy (runners-up); GFA’s Second Division League: Raia Sporting Club (winners), Nagoa Sporting Club (runners-up); GFA’s First Division League: Laxmi Prasad SC (winners), Calangute Association (runners-up); GFA’s Pro-League: Salgaocar SC (winners), Sesa Football Academy (runners-up).
