Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino on Real Madrid's wishlist
Real Madrid have started the new season well and sit top of the La Liga with a two-point lead over rivals, Barcelona. Manager Zinedine Zidane has instilled confidence back into the squad and won the Los Blancos’ eleventh Champions League last season.
But all is not well between Zidane and the Madrid hierarchy as reports have emerged that the manager and club president Florentino Perez have argued over a number of issues since the summer. Now, reports have come in that Real have earmarked Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino to take over the reigns from Zidane in the next season.

Mauricio Pochettino has done a tremendous job at White Hart Lane as the Argentine has transformed Spurs into title contenders. Spurs currently sit fourth on the table and are just three points off the top of the summit. More than the results, it is his playing style that has garnered him rave reviews from pundits and top managers, as he has transformed the Spurs side into a relentless pressing unit.
Real Madrid president Perez has always been ruthless when it comes to the club's managers and the board is said to be disappointed with the fact that the European Champions are yet to win the La Liga title since 2012. Madrid have failed to win La Liga for four years with Barcelona winning three and city rivals, Atletico Madrid also winning one in the last four seasons.
Real see Pochettino as a perfect manager to take the club forward with the 44-year-old also used to working with a minimal budget as the Madrid side may face a transfer ban soon.
Pochettino’s Madrid Dream
Pochettino has earlier said that he would want to manage Europe's big clubs soon and it can't get bigger than Real Madrid for the former Espanyol manager.
The Spurs manager had this to say last year about speculation linking him with a move to Madrid, "Obviously I would love one day to be the Real Madrid manager but I have to go step by step. I need to keep learning. Real Madrid are a great club and I have just started my managerial career. I have been in this just seven or eight years. But In the future, why not? Of course I would like to be the Real Madrid manager. Real Madrid are the best team in the world."

Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is aware of Real Madrid's interest for their manager but he is hopeful of convincing Pochettino to stay with the London side.
It was also earlier reported back in March by Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport that Madrid are set to offer Pochettino a contract of £16.2 million to leave Tottenham for the Bernabeu with the sum set to be increased with Pochettino's continued good run of form with the Lilywhites.
