EPL 2016/17: Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool 1-1 - Player Ratings

Spurs celebrating their equalizer against Liverpool

Spurs and Liverpool played out an entertaining 1-1 draw, with James Milner slotting away the penalty for the Reds and the first goal of the match. Danny Rose equalised late in the second half, as Spurs capitalised on a strong period in the second half.

Liverpool looked comfortable till the 70th minute but soon lost momentum and paid the price for it. Kyle Walker was substituted in the 28th minute as he suffered an injury.

Joel Matip hit the crossbar from a corner and Sadio Mane put the ball in the back of the net but was judged offside correctly. Philippe Coutinho missed a sitter in the first half as the Reds were better than Spurs in the majority of the game, but lost points from a winning position again.

Pochettino, on the other hand, will be happy with a point as his men couldn't break down Liverpool's defence.

Let’s take a look at the player ratings from Spurs 1-1 draw against Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur

Michel Vorm – 6.5/10

Lloris' deputy kept Spurs in the game as he made some important saves along with his sprinting run to deny Mane with an open goal.

His role of a sweeper keeper would have made Pep Guardiola proud today but was helpless to save James Milner brilliant penalty.

Kyle Walker – 6/10

Walker lasted just 28 minutes but was solid both in defending and attacking. It was a shame he had to be subbed as Spurs conceded a penalty from his right side after his injury.

Jan Vertonghen – 5.5/10

The Belgian handled Liverpool's attacking threat well at times but conceded some unnecessary fouls too. Ended the game with a booking to his name.

Toby Alderweireld – 6.5/10

He was the best defender on the pitch. Toby handled Reds' pressure well and also won two headers from corners. ‘

e should have scored a goal but was denied by a brilliant save from Simon Mignolet.

Danny Rose – 7/10

Rose scored the much-needed equaliser, as he was present at the right place at the right time. Another player to go into referees' book, he too received a caution in the second half.

Eric Dier – 6/10

Dier had a decent game and kept the game ticking in midfield. The youngster had to play as a makeshift right back when Walker got injured. He was the provider of the cross which yielded a goal for the home team.

Victor Wanyama – 6.5/10

The Kenyan shielded the defence well and intercepted many of Liverpool's attacks. Wanyama can become an important player for Spurs if he continues to put in good performances like he has done at the start of the season.

Erik Lamela – 6.5/10

The Argentine has been in his best form since arriving in England. He scored against Everton and played well today as well. He needs to perform well consistently as there is competition for places in the Spurs line-up

Dele Alli – 5.5/10

After an important cameo against Crystal Palace, Alli could not muster his usual commanding performance. He too received a yellow card for his challenge on Dejan Lovren. Alli’s performance had his usual work rate but failed to have any sort of end product.

Christian Eriksen – 5/10

The Dane was Spurs' biggest disappointment as he failed to influence any attack and looked like a shadow of his former self.

Harry Kane – 5.5/10

The frontman had few chances to make any sort of impact and had to shift to a No.10 role when Vincent Janssen arrived in the first half.

Kane didn't look happy when he was subbed off in the last few minutes of the game.

Substitutes

Vincent Janssen – 6/10

The new signing has shown glimpses of his talent but needs to do more with each game. Janssen went to the ground far too easily at times.

Josh Onomah – 5/10

The youngster had an immense chance to win the game for his side but was marginally offside on a counter attack.

Harry Winks – N/A

Winks was on for just the final two minutes of the game and the academy graduate failed to have any sort of contribution.
