Wayne Rooney was sensational during his first spell at Everton. Arguably the most talented Englishman of his generation, Rooney's career has seen him excel for large periods of time in the last decade and in the early years of this one.

He set the world alight at Manchester United and then became a vital cog in the title-winning machine of Sir Alex Ferguson. Never a 30 goal a season ultra-prolific goalscorer, Rooney's strength has been his immense consistency and ability to contribute a lot more than just goals.

A distinctive burst of pace defined him and Rooney's demise was written as he got older because many believed that Rooney's game depended a lot on his ability to rush into spaces rather than a generally superior technical ability.

When Rooney moved back to Everton earlier this season, it looked like a feel-good move to his boyhood club would see him fade into the twilight but he has rediscovered himself. Not many predicted the revival of the 31-year old English legend.

Here are five stats which tell you how good the ex-Utd superstar has been so far-

Once a Blue...Always a Blue!

Wayne Rooney was once a goal-machine and is the second highest goalscorer in Premier League history. The only thing wrong about that sentence is that Rooney is still a goal machine and the best part is that he has managed as many goals as Manchester United's £75m signing; Romelu Lukaku who left Everton this season.

The nine goals in fifteen appearances are more than the five goals he had managed the previous campaign and the eight league goals in 2015/16. The fact that he is finding the net is certainly boosting the impact he is having on the game and his confidence is returning to the old levels once again.
