Stats: Barcelona's MSN is the most used attacking trident in Europe
Barcelona’s superb South American attacking trio have played the most minutes this season. Suarez and Neymar have played the majority of the games while Messi missed out a few games due to a knee injury. However, all the minutes spent on the pitch might come to hurt them as they reach a crucial stage in their season with important matches coming up both domestically and in Europe.
Suarez has already spent 3120 minutes on the pitch having played 34 games. Neymar meanwhile has played 29 games which are 5 more than his Argentine team-mate Lionel Messi.
The attacking trio which comes second on the list might surprise a few, with Willian, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa playing a combined 7,258 minutes on the pitch.
Willian has been the lone bright spark in Chelsea’s dismal campaign this season and he has already played 35 games for Chelsea this season. The other Premier League trio to feature in the list are Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling. Even though Aguero was injured, De Bruyne was a constant in the team and played 35 matches before being sidelined with a knee injury.
Here is the list of the attacking trios who have played the most minutes in Europe:
Position | Team | Attacking trio | Minutes Played |
1 | Barcelona | Messi-Neymar-Suarez | 8093 |
2 | Chelsea | Hazard-Costa-Willian | 7258 |
3 | Manchester City | Aguero-De Bruyne-Sterling | 6919 |
4 | PSG | Ibrahimovic-Cavani-Di Maria | 6733 |
5 | Arsenal | Ozil-Giroud-Sanchez | 6021 |
6 | Bayern Munich | Lewandowski-Costa-Robben | 5657 |
7 | Real Madrid | Bale-Benzema-Ronaldo | 5482 |
There are three English Premier League clubs in the list which may be due to the fact that English teams have one extra competition, the League Cup. Real Madrid’s famous ‘BBC’ trio have also not played as much as their counterpart as both Bale and Benzema have been out with injuries this season.
