Stats: Manchester United's midfield crisis

Struggling champions

Manchester United are languishing in 7th place, and have suffered 7 defeats already this season, worse, the current Champions were knocked out of the FA cup by Swansea and are trail Sunderland in the second leg in the Capital One cup semi finals.

The strikers have been in decent enough form, particularly Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck, although they are missing Robin van Persie who hasn’t featured much at all this season but  has still scored 7 goals. Rooney and Welbeck have scored a combined 17 goals.

It will thus be harsh to blame the strike force of United. When it comes to the midfield, United have struggled. Not that their defense has done really well, but most of their problems are connected to the midfield area. Lets take a look at the performance of their midfielders this season and last season when they won the title.

Current Season:

* Ongoing

last Season:

The sight looks terrible when you’re a United fan. Carrick, Fellaini, Cleverly and Fletcher have failed to provide a single assist, and only Cleverly has scored from the midfield position. Even the “chances created” are very few and far between.

Adding up all the stats,

With only 1 goal and 1 assist, its high time that manager David Moyes looks else where to solve his midfield crisis.
