Suarez: Sturridge & I can fire Liverpool into the Champions League
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says that his partnership with fellow attacker Daniel Sturridge could be the best the Uruguayan has been involved in.
Dubbed the “SAS”, the duo have been in excellent form this season with ten goals between them from eight games and Suarez says that Sturridge is one of the best strikers he has played with.
“Three or four years or more ago, when I played with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at Ajax, he had a very good partnership with me,” Suarez told Sky Sports.
“Now, with Daniel we are trying our best and we can improve. Maybe in a few years I will be able to say my best partnership was with Daniel Sturridge, especially if we can continue to progress.
“I am so happy because when you have a very good striker, and a very good partner, for defenders it is difficult because they have to give their attention to two players – not just one.
Suarez also revealed their intentions to help Liverpool get back into the Champions League next season by finishing in the top four this campaign.
He continued: “We know in the last few seasons, Liverpool have not been in the Champions League and we know we can help the team challenge for the top four. We will try our best (to improve), but Liverpool is not only Suarez and Sturridge – it’s the whole team.”
Luis Suarez has scored three goals in three games from eight shots, that amounts to a goal a game with a 25% conversion rate.
