Subrata Pal offered six-month contract by Danish club FC Vestsjaelland

Indian goalkeeper Subrata Pal has been offered a six-month contract by Danish Superliga club FC Vestsjaelland, where he recently had a trial. Subrata had impressed the coaching staff at the Danish club, especially their goalkeeping coach and has now been asked to report to the club on January 3 2014.

Subrata, who has been signed by IMG-Reliance for their Indian Super League, would have to be released on loan to the Danish club, if the deal works out but the details of the whole contract isn’t clear as IMG-R had agreed terms for the custodian to join Rangdajied United on loan.

But the 2009 AIFF Player of the Year remains in contention to become the third Indian footballer to play professionally in Europe after Bhaichung Bhutia and Sunil Chhetri with Mohammed Salem having played a few friendly matches for Glasgow Celtic in 1936.

HT quoted Subrata: “It has always been a dream to play in Europe and I am delighted that a top club has offered me the chance.”

FC Vestsjaelland was formed in 2008 and are based in Slagelse in east Denmark. They are popularly known as FCV Vikings. The club qualified to the top tier this season and are currently placed 7th in the Danish Superliga with 20 points from 15 matches.
