Swansea books play-off berth in Europa League

Swansea managed a goal-less draw against Swedish side Malmo to qualify for the Europa League play-off on a 4-0 aggregate. Starting the match with a formidable lead from the first leg, Swansea manager, Michael Laudrup made seven changes in the first eleven from the first leg.

Swansea looked solid from the beginning creating few positive chances. Spanish striker Michu fired a shot which went just over the bar, and Wayne Routledge’s shot went just outside the bar.

Unlike the first half, second half proved to be sloppy for both the sides. Michael Laudrup substituted Michu  with a defender, after the Spaniard was booked in the first half. Michu was preserved for the Premier League opener against Manchester United which is scheduled to be on 17th August.

Swansea will now look forward to the draw for Europa League play-off, which will happen on Friday at Nyon.
