Leicester City news: Thai Buddhist monks responsible for club's fine form
Leicester City's meteorological rise to the summit of the 2015-16 Premier League table thanks to a lead of five points with eight more matchdays to go, is undoubtedly one of the most interesting fairytale stories in world football.
Claudio Ranieri's men have been unstoppable in this season. The Foxes have won 18 games out of the 30 matches that they have played in the 2015-16 edition of the Barclays Premier League. In the process, Leicester has lost just three of them and that too, to the two big boys of English football, namely, Liverpool (Away) and Arsenal (Home and Away).
Incidentally, they were struggling at the bottom of the English league table last January but since then the Foxes had managed to win the seven of their last nine matches to finish on the number 14 spot and evidently, they had kept up their fine form into the new season as well.
According to some interesting news that has surfaced, it is not just tactical brilliance, undaunted work ethic and an enviable team spirit that has kept Leicester City FC afloat.
As per a recent news report, around half a dozen Buddhist monks have kept visiting the King Power Stadium for last three years in order to bless the football pitch and distribute lucky charms to the footballers in order to cleanse their aura and envelope the football club in an aura of positiveness.
Divine blessing for Leicester
In an interview given to AFP, monk Phra Prommangkalachan has said, “I hang some amulets on their necks and I gave them these fabric talismans. I hang some amulets on their necks and I gave them these fabric talismans.”
Reportedly, the group of monks were invited to the King Power Stadium by the Leicester chairman of Thai origin, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha who is said to be an unwavering follower of karma.
“He brought monks there to pray for auspiciousness and luck in the game, for the management team and the players,” added the 64-year-old Prommangkalachan.
58-year-old Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha (formerly known as Vichai Raksriaksorn) was born into a Thai-Chinese family. He is a Thai billionaire businessman who is the founder and CEO of King Power Duty-Free, an operator of duty-free shops.
Ranked by the Forbes magazine as the 9th richest businessman in Thailand, Srivaddhanaprabha purchased Leicester City Football Club back in August 2010, after a three-year shirt sponsorship deal.
