The 34-year-old hoping to force himself into Brazil's 2018 World Cup squad
Brazil manager Tite has no shortage of attacking midfielders at his disposal when it comes to selecting his 2018 World Cup squad and he will likely have to break many hearts when he announces his final squad for this summer's tournament in Russia. One such midfielder desperate to make a World Cup appearance for his country is Jadson - the skilful 34-year-old playmaker and fan-favourite among the Fiel supporters at Corinthians.
Whilst Jadson's form over the last six months may warrant such a call-up, he is running out of time to convince his ex-manager Tite, who worked with Jadson during his successful spell as head coach at Corinthians, that the ageing 2009 UEFA Cup winner is worthy of those much desired international places.
Last year the gaucho manager already suggested that he was sure of at least 80% of his final World Cup squad and whilst indeed the majority of his squads for continental qualification and friendlies has rarely changed. There still remains a few months for players like Jadson to force their way into Tite's big plans to bring the Cup home and dispel the nightmares of Brazil's last appearance in the competition, when on home soil they were torn-apart somewhat effortlessly by a rampant Germany.
What can Jadson offer?
Jadson takes chances for himself as well as he creates them for others. He's Corinthians' go-to player for almost all dead-ball situations. Whilst the likes of Neymar and Coutinho may have that covered, he would be a welcome back-up and a player who is happy sitting deep when needed, comfortable drifting out wide and famous in the Brasileirao for his late bursting runs into the box.
Even in the latter stages of a playing career that has seen him win domestic trophies in China, Ukraine, and his native Brazil, he still has a strong desire to appear in a World Cup, knowing this summer's tournament will no doubt be his last opportunity to do so.
Jadson scored a total of 8 goals and 4 assists last year for Corinthians. Jadson will know that his form over the next few months in the Brazilian state championships and Copa Libertadores will be pivotal in his bid to take a place on the plane to Russia in the summer.
