The Footy Mumble: Goalkeeper attacked, Ronny's United denial!
Cristiano Ronaldo might be all excited about returning ‘home’ for the clash against Manchester United, but that probably won’t translate on the pitch, as he claims:
“I believe things will go well. In my opinion Real Madrid have a better team, although we have to show that on the pitch because United are a very united team and always have been in recent years.”
Others obviously disagree, pointing out his own goal last weekend against Granada as a sign of things to come in the United clash.
UEFA has ‘warned’ big spending clubs PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea about evading the FFP rules.
“Everyone, including PSG, know they have to demonstrate [the deals] are without cheating and that will be submitted to panels. We have a regulation which speaks about fair value of deals and the fact that a related party cannot just inject money into a club directly or indirectly,” UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino said.
He was referring to the multi-million sponsorship deals being signed by these clubs.
Of course, its one thing to ban a club like Malaga, who seem to have been betrayed by their own owners and completely another to ban Chelsea or Manchester City. Let’s hope the UEFA shows some spine to do so.
Alex McLeish became what we think is the 4th manager to be sacked in the past one week, after just 5 weeks in charge.
McLeish lasted just 41 days into his tenure, and managed just 10 games in that time.
Gian Piero Gasperini, Joaquim Caparros and Zdenek Zeman were the other victims, leaving most fans scratching their heads about what exactly runs in the heads of the owners.
If you think Ferguson screaming at opponent players for time wasting was bad, wait till you hear this. A Gillingham fan got so enraged by Wycombe keeper Jordan Archer’s time wasting tactics that he lunged straight out of the stands and attacked him!
Useful tip for you folks: Next time you get irritated by such antics, make sure you attack the goalie after he kicks the ball and not before it!
