The insane Erling Haaland stat from this season that nobody is talking about

Erling Haaland recently set the record for most goals (36) ever scored in a Premier League season. His 12 goals in 10 Champions League games have also added to the legendary status that the Norwegian hitman is sure to become.

However, there is one particular stat concerning Erling Haaland that has flown under the radar. The consistency shown by the Norwegian in his 50 games this season is frightening. But what if we were to tell you that only four clubs have prevented Haaland from scoring against them this season?

This includes all competitions the 22-year-old has played in and scored in this season. Below are the four teams that prevented Erling Haaland from finding the back of the net.

#4 Sheffield United

Sheffield United have booked their promotion back up to the Premier League after a fantastic season in the Championship. The Blades had a great FA Cup run and ran into the monstrous Manchester City at Wembley in the semi-finals of the competition. Unfortunately, for Sheffield United could not beat City despite keeping Erling Haaland quiet.

Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick to book City a trip to the FA Cup final in early June. Erling Haaland may have had the chance to score in the game but he handed the penalty kick to Mahrez after missing a penalty in Munich a few days prior. The Blades will hope they can repeat this feat in the 2023-24 season.

#3 Brentford

The only team to beat City in a game this season on this list are Brentford, who sent the three-time back-to-back champions a shock defeat just before the World Cup break. The 3-5-2 formation was too much for City as they struggled in the first half to break down Brentford after Toney's opening goal.

Ben Mee created a formula few could follow as him and his partners Zanka and Ethan Pinnock not only shut down Erling Haaland but also City as a team. After Phil Foden's equalizer, Ivan Toney snatched a late winner to hand City one of their four losses in the 2022-23 Premier League season.

The saving grace for Erling Haaland is the Cityzens travel to Brentford on the final day of the season. He may be rested the week before the FA Cup final as City chases the treble, but if he features Brentford will do well to stop him a second time.

#2 Chelsea

The Cityzens have defeated Chelsea four times this season without the Londoners scoring a goal in any of the four games. The teams met twice in the Premier League, but Chelsea had bad luck as they drew City away in the FA Cup and League Cup. Erling Haaland would remain an unused sub in both the FA Cup and league cup wins against Chelsea.

Haaland started the league game at Stamford Bridge and had little involvement as City won 1-0. The Norwegian played Chelsea most recently as City lifted the Premier League trophy at their home stadium. He came on as a sub in this game but the roles were reversed as frequent substitute Julian Alvarez would snag the winner for City. Erling Haaland may not need to score many goals against Chelsea, as they have not scored against City since the Champions League final in 2021.

#1 Real Madrid

There was a lot made of the fact that Antonio Rudiger completely neutralized Erling Haaland in the game at the Bernabeu, as the sides shared a draw in a back-and-forward semi-final. Carlo Ancelotti had the difficult decision of whether to stick with Rudiger or bring in trusted center-back Eder Militao.

Haaland may not have scored but Manchester City waltzed to four goals as they embarrassed the 14-time European champions. Thibaut Courtois had one of the games of his life to keep out Haaland at the Etihad.

The 22-year-old has the chance to be part of a historical treble-winning team as cup finals against Manchester United and Inter await. Erling Haaland has already scored a hat-trick against United in an earlier Premier League game this season. He has not played Inter yet this season but will be hungry for a Champions League final goal and winners medal.
