The worst 'on the field' football brawls

A brawl between  players of the opposing sides is a common sight..

A brawl between opposing players and fans is a rare sight..

A brawl between players of the same side??…Well thats ‘once in a life time’ !!

1. Lee Bowyer v Kieron Dyer

2nd April, 2005, Premier League match between Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Newcastle Uniteds’s Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer exchanged blows, shortly after Villa went up 3-0 , much to the surprise of everyone in St.James Park, not to mention manager Graeme Souness’s helplessness , who could just watch and ponder.

During this fracas, the duo were separated by Villa goalscorer Gareth Barry and several of their team-mates, though not before Bowyer’s shirt had been ripped.

Dyer and Bowyer were both sent off and Newcastle were down to 9 men… Didn’t make a difference to the scoreline, did it?
