'They're going to be punished by Barcelona'- Former Manchester United star is concerned about Red Devils' poor form
What's the story?
Former Manchester United player, Dimitar Berbatov has revealed his concerns regarding Red Devil's poor form ahead of their crucial clash against Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals.
In case you didn't know...
After enjoying a winning streak under the tutelage of Ole Gunner Solskjaer, Manchester United have endured poor results in the last few weeks. United lost three out of their four fixtures in all competitions which includes two defeats in their last three Premier League games.
Solskjaer's first defeat as United manager came against Arsenal, while the Red Devils lost twice against Wolves; one in the FA Cup and the other in the Premier League. As a result, United are 6th in the Premier League ranking.
On the other hand, Barcelona marched on towards the Liga title as they came back from 4-2 to salvage a point against Villareal. It goes without saying that Lionel Messi is enjoying a sensational run of form in the current campaign as he leads the assists and goalscoring charts.
Former Red Devil, Dimitar Berbatov, scored 94 goals in the Premier League in over 200 appearances in his career.
The heart of the matter
Berbatov expressed his concerns regarding United's recent poor run and claimed that the Catalan giants will punish them if they keep making mistakes.
Speaking to Betfair, the former striker said:
"I'm concerned by United's poor form and if they continue to make mistakes like they have been doing recently then let's face it they're going to be punished by Barcelona. They are making their lives difficult at the moment and it's looking tough to make the top four in the Premier League now."
Berbatov also admitted that Barcelona are favorites against his former club.
"I admit, Barcelona are rightful favourites in the tie, but of course so were PSG, and nothing is certain in football. United can forget their recent form and make a statement here, but - and it's nothing new or original - they must watch out for that man Messi."
What's next?
Manchester United will host Barcelona in the first leg of Quarter Finals in the Champions League.
