Some good news for Manchester United as concentration now moves onto the Champions League, Bayern Munich suffered an injury set-back as Thiago suffered partial ligament tear meaning he’ll be out for 6-8 weeks, missing both matches against United.

Surprisingly on Saturday afternoon, Bayern Munich failed to win at home as they drew 3-3 with Hoffenheim.

Manchester United were heavily linked with Thiago Alcantara over the summer transfer window and it seemed nailed on that we would sign him, with David Moyes having the final say that he felt that the young midfielder was not good enough for United.

Going into midweek, Manchester United have injury concerns of their own with Robin van Persie, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Rafael Da Silva all likely to miss the first leg on Tuesday along with the suspended Patrice Evra.
