"This game could have been over in the first half itself": East Bengal coach Armando Colaco
East Bengal defeated table toppers, Bengaluru FC 2-0 to claim 3 important points on Sunday.
East Bengal coach Armando Colaco believed they could have ended the game in the first half itself, if his strikers had not been wasteful.
“It was a very tough game. We have been playing away. Most of you said that East Bengal won’t win. This game could have been over in the first half itself. Moga, Chidi missed. Boys put a lot of hard work. The best thing is we got 3 points. We had built a momentum and all the boys carried on”, Colaco said at the press conference.
On asked about the missed chances, Colaco further added, “I am really worried. They can do much better. I have to carry on with both of them. I am impressed with my junior player, Subodh, He really played well.”
Colaco disagreed on the fact that this was East Bengal’s best performance under his tenure. He said, “We played like this against Salgaocar also. Continue attack right from the beginning, because attack is the best form of defense. Throughout the 90 minutes we kept on attacking. Both the teams played well in the last game. This game was simple, go all out try to score a goal or two and then slow down.”
For a long time now, rumours have been circulating that United Sports Club’s star striker Ranti Martins may join East Bengal.
The same question was yet again asked to the coach, to which he replied, “I was just talking to an official in the morning, I said ‘what is going on, I heard Moga is going to be released’, he said we are not releasing anybody. You know how Calcutta is, I would definitely try to keep Moga, because the boy can do much better.”
With this victory, The Red and Gold brigade have moved up to 6th position in the points table, recording 18 points from 11 games.
