Thoughts on Marouane Fellaini - Chelsea's new target
There is certainly a taste of Belgian talent on Roman’s tongue. The squad seems to have the several talents of the Belgian national squad with Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois all seen as the future of Chelsea. Chelsea have spent over 100 million pounds by bringing in Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and soon to be announced Hulk with one eye on the Financial Fair Play Rule (FFP) .
I have seen him play for Everton since 2008 and the lad has always frustrated us. He is very controlling and bosses the midfield with his physique as Lampard has been doing for us for years. For the Merseyside club this season, he has won possession of the ball 190 times, the most among any player in the league. John Obi Mikel has been top-notch for Chelsea in Europe, but if we are to look ahead to the future Fellaini at 24 is the perfect replacement. Hailed by Arsene Wenger himself as a midfield prodigy, he stayed with Everton despite interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United. When Everton lacked forwards, he was forced into that position and did well, playing behind Australian Tim Cahill before getting back to his favored defensive midfield position. Though he might not get a regular starting place, he could definitely have a better chance to win trophies. He was recently linked to a move to Tottenham to strengthen their midfield but seemed to be the least bothered. He has cult status among the fans which might make it difficult to lure him away, but with the European Champions trying to buy you, can you resist?
Everton have been terrific in their recent seasons and remained in the top division since 1954. David Moyes has done a spectacular job to make sure the club remains firm in their approaches with a very limited budget. Considered by pundits as one of the best in the game, he has been responsible in bringing in talents such as Baines, Fellaini and Cahill. All have been instrumental and played a vital part in the team’s run last season. They are extremely tough to get three points against. The only reason you wouldn’t want him at the club is because he will most probably end up in a squabble with David Luiz over their hair!
On a personal note I would love to have him at the Bridge as our Belgian population slowly increases!
