Thrilled Jose Mourinho promises to bring passion to Tottenham
Jose Mourinho has vowed to bring passion back to Tottenham Hotspur after being announced as the Lilywhites' new manager earlier this week.
Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by the club following a poor start to the season, with Mourinho being roped in as his replacement.
The Portuguese, speaking to Spurs TV in his first official interview with the club, revealed that he could not be happier with developments, whilst also promising to bring passion to the club.
"I couldn't be happier and if I was not as happy as I am, I wouldn't be here. What can I promise? Passion - for my job but also passion for my club. It's a privilege when a manager goes to a club and feels that happiness in relation to the squad that he's going to have."
The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss also expressed confidence in the project that's currently in place at Spurs, stating that he is looking forward to working with the club's academy products.
"I always told about the club's potential. I always told about the qualities of the players. I always told the magnificent work the club was doing. I really like this squad and looking to the young players. The academy is always giving the talents that the first team need. Of course I look forward to work with that profile."
Tottenham are currently 14th in the Premier League table after 12 games and Mourinho's managerial stint will begin with a daunting trip to the London Stadium as Spurs take on West Ham.
