“Tomorrow is another day” – Jose Mourinho ends feud with Andre Villas-Boas
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he and Andre Villas-Boas have made up and put past issues behind them.
Mourinho revealed how he made up with Villas-Boas – who used to be on his coaching staff – after he was sacked by Tottenham and wished him a Merry Christmas.
When Villas-Boas went out on his own, first at Porto and then Chelsea, the Portuguese pair barely spoke. But after Villas-Boas was sacked by Tottenham on Monday, Mourinho says he spoke to him for only the second time since a summer get-together for Premier League managers.
“In the last six months, I have spoken with Andre three times,” said Mourinho.
“Once in that managers’ meeting, then when we played against Tottenham. And another one a couple of days ago.
“I didn’t speak about the case. I just said, ‘Come on, the world didn’t finish, let’s go… Tomorrow is another day and another job will come, so, Happy Christmas.’
“I don’t know what was going on [at Spurs]. In football, nothing surprises me – anything can happen.
“I think, when they gave him a three or four-year contract, they did it because they trusted him and because they thought he was the right man to be their manager.
“They had a couple of bad results and that gave them a reason to change that trust and change their manager.”
Chelsea travel to the Emirates on Monday night hoping to beat Arsenal and leapfrog them over Christmas.
