Toni Kroos rejects move to Manchester United
Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos has dismissed talk of a possible move to Manchester United and expects to play at Allianz Arena next season.
The 24 year old had been heavily linked to a move to Manchester with only 1 year left on his contract and Bayern Munich President Karl Hopfner saying that his deal would not be improved, however, Kroos has rejected the talk stating that he understands the club’s decision regarding his contract offer and is currently focusing on the World Cup.
Hopfner compared Kroos’ situation with that of former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack saying “There will certainly be further talks. But at some point the player has to say what he wants, we will not exceed certain financial boundaries. It was the same with Michael Ballack and at some point we withdrew the offer.”
In a statement released on German magazine BILD, Kroos said “I am expecting to play for Bayern Munich next season, there was a lot of speculation, but Manchester is and was not an issue.
“At this point in time I am fully focused on preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. I know that I have to accept and respect the recent statements of the authorities at Bayern Munich.
“Still, honestly, I did not expect anything else in that respect after I had turned down the offer of a new contract I received from the club at the start of the current calendar year."
Rumours of a Manchester United move had cooled down after reports suggested that the Red Devils’ new manager Louis van Gaal was not interested in signing the midfielder.
