Top 10 most valuable football strikers in the world

Football has grown by leaps and bounds over the years; money has changed countless hands and the value of some players have inflated the transfer market considerably.

There are a number of top quality strikers in the English Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A, and picking just 10 out of them is next to impossible.

However, we’ve gone out on a limb and created a list of the top 10 most valuable football strikers in the world, and despite being great goal-scorers, the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar have all been left off this top 10 as they are not necessarily just strikers.

10. Gonzalo Higuain – £29m

The former Real Madrid man only left the Bernabeu in the summer, and has starred in Serie A so far this season.

With five league goals in this campaign, the Argentine has helped Rafa Benitez’s side into third place.

9. Karim Benzema – £30m

The hit-and-miss Real Madrid striker can be sensational at times but woeful on other occasions.

The French forward has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while, but remains in Spain for now.

8. Robert Lewandowski – £34.5m

The Borussia Dortmund ace is wanted all round Europe and it’s no surprise as he is a goal machine.

His heroics in Madrid last year proved just how good he can be on his day. He has continued to shine this campaign and looks set for stardom.

7. Sergio Aguero – £35m

The Manchester City goal machine has kicked off this season in fine form.

The Argentine striker has been sensational for the Citizens of late and is without question one of the best strikers in the world.

A scorer of all types of goals, the superstar is a great asset to the Etihad outfit.

6. Luis Suarez – £37m

Liverpool’s controversial striker Luis Suarez is an unpredictable joy to watch.

You’re never quite certain what you will get from the Uruguayan, but when he lets his feet do the talking he is near enough unplayable.

5. Wayne Rooney – £39.5m

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is the only English star to make this list.

At 28-years-old, he is just reaching his prime and is showing his great class for the Red Devils this season.

A creator and scorer of goals, Rooney is comfortably England’s best striker.

4. Robin van Persie – £39.5m

Dutchman Robin van Persie has been sensational since switching to Manchester United from Arsenal in the summer last year.

The Premier League’s top goalscorer for the past two years running, Van Persie has scored goals from all angles for two of England’s elite clubs.

3. Hulk – £39.5m

Hulk has been linked with Premier League moves all throughout the summer, and if the Brazilian ace was to make a move to England’s elite division, then he could excel.

A tough and powerful forward, the 27-year-old can score goals from anywhere.

2. Radamel Falcao – £53m

27-year-old Radamel Falcao takes joint first place on the list. Rated at just £53 million, Falcao has already struck eight times in 12 appearances since joining Ligue 1 new-comers Monaco.

The forward is certainly a tormenter to defences and will hope his French side secure Champions League qualification so he stands a chance to qualify and play with Europe’s elite.

1. Edinson Cavani – £53m

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani joins his fellow Ligue 1 rival Radamel Falcao as the world’s most valuable striker.

Cavani, like Falcao, came to Ligue 1 this past summer and has been exceptional for the French outfit.

Having already found the net nine times for PSG this season, he will hope to bring European success to his side this season.
