Top 5 last-gasp Arsenal wins in the Premier League

Liverpool v Arsenal - Premier League
Robin van Persie scores the winner

'Fergie time' and last minute goals to clinch games has gone down in Premier League folklore due to the sheer number of last-gasp wins that Manchester United eked out during the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson. Not many clubs come close to them but over the course of the last two decades or so, Arsenal have also had their share of dramatic last-gasp victories out of nowhere and many of them are still remembered fondly by both the fans of the club as well as the neutrals.

The latest win on Sunday against Burnley came through an injury-time penalty from Alexis Sanchez and continues a remarkable run of three late wins against the same opponents. However, Burnley have not been the only side who have had to bear the brunt of a late Gunners' goal. Here is a look at 5 of the most famous last-gasp Arsenal wins in the Premier League.

#5 Robin van Persie vs Liverpool at Anfield, 2012

Back in the 2011-12 season, Arsenal were a one-man team that depended on the exploits of Dutchman Robin van Persie to win games and in a crunch game at Anfield in March, he scored a superb winner to help the Gunners win all three points in a closely contested fixture.

Liverpool had gone ahead through a Laurent Koscielny goal but Arsenal equalised through a Robin van Persie header (who else?) in the 31st minute. From then on, it seemed that the match would be meandering to a tame draw as both teams struggled to assert themselves in the game.

However, in the 2nd minute of injury time, Song lofted a ball over the Liverpool midfield and the ball landed from over Robin van Persie's right shoulder. He timed his volley to perfection and the ball cannoned into the net past Pepe Reina to give Arsenal one of the most memorable wins of their entire season. It might just be one of Robin van Persie's best goals of his Arsenal career.
