Top 6 Teams with high goals per game ratio this season

The most exciting thing for a football fan is to watch his/her favourite team score goals. No matter how these goals come, just the sight of the ball crossing the goal line makes a fan explode with enormous joy and ecstasy. Now that the first half of the season is over in most of the leagues, some teams have consistently found the back of the net, making their fans no less happy than what they would have expected at the beginning of the season. If we sort out the teams with a high goal per game ratio in their domestic leagues, some are found to have an astonishing ratio. So here are the teams with a high goal per game ratio in their respective leagues this season. Please note that only top European leagues are taken into account.

FC BARCELONA – 3.39

When it comes to scoring goals, how can one neglect Barcelona. Like every season, Barca are among the teams with a very high goals per game ratio. They are at the top of the La Liga table, having scored 61 times in the process. They have scored 16 times more than their rivals Real Madrid. An interesting fact is that they have scored more than four times in nine of their matches this season.

There is no prize in guessing who has contributed more. Messi has scored 27 times this season already. Just 18 games into the season and he is already in position to become the top scorer yet again. Villa, Xavi, Fabregas and defender Adriano Correia have scored 5 times each this season in La Liga.

PSV EINDHOVEN – 3.33

Though Eredivisie is slowly losing its past glories nowadays, it still remains an interesting league to follow, especially this season. 18 games into the season and yet, the league is open for at least six teams to fight it out. Of of all the teams, PSV has been the most interesting team this season. They have scored 60 goals with a whopping 3.33 goals per game ratio. They are currently at par with FC Twente with respect to points. The return of Van Bommel has given a huge boost to the team as they have managed to score 4 or more times in 8 of their games this season.

All the attackers of PSV have been consistent so far this season. Matavz has the scored the highest, with 8 goals to his name. Wijnaldum and Belgian striker Mertens, have scored seven each to help PSV score 60 goals this season.

SHAKHTAR DONETSK – 2.89

Shakhtar Donetsk are certainly the team to watch out for in this season’s UCL knockout phase. They have been in splendid form, both at domestic and European stages. More interesting statistic is their goals per game ratio. They have managed to score 2.89 goals per game, which is a really good record. With 18 games gone, this season’s league title looks destined to be theirs as they have a good 13 point lead over the second placed Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. They have scored more than four goals in six of their matches this season.

Armenian striker Henrikh Mikhtaryan has been in a thunderous form this season, having notched up 18 goals in 17 appearances so far. He has been the difference for his team in this season’s league chase. Alex Teixeira has scored eight times this season.

SL BENFICA – 2.69

Benfica are in a good form this season, having scored 35 goals in just 13 games. They are three points ahead of Porto who still have a game in hand. Like every Primeira Liga season in recent times, the league is a two horse race this season, with Benfica and Porto fighting for the crown. The goal scoring record of Benfica is brilliant this season and they have managed to score four or more in two of the thirteen matches they have played so far.

Oscar Cardozo has been brilliant this season. He has scored 13 times in 11 matches, which is quite a good record. Lima has scored 7 times this season and Rodrigo has scored 5 times.

BAYERN MUNICH – 2.59

Bayern Munich are looking really fired up to bring back the Bundesliga title that they lost two years back to Dortmund. They have been in superb form so far. The winter leaders of this year’s Bundesliga have already scored 44 times in 17 matches so far this season. They started the season in a record breaking fashion. However, a loss to Bayer Leverkusen ended their winning streak. They never looked back since then and have managed to score more than four goals in three matches so far.

The new signing Mario Mandzukic has been in lethal form this season, having scored 9 goals so far. Thomas Muller has also scored nine times this season to help the cause. Toni Kroos has got six goals to his name this season.

MANCHESTER UNITED – 2.57

Manchester United have been in a great form this season as they battle to retain their Barclays Premier league title which they lost to their rivals Manchester City last season in goal difference. Manager Alex Ferguson made his point clear, that he wants his team to score more goals, by signing Van Persie for a huge sum of 24 m pounds. Though they have managed to score 54 times in 21 matches, the defensive record of Manchester United has been poor this season, thus failing to make any big impact on goal difference. United have scored four or more goals in five of their matches this season as they sit pretty on the top of the table.

Van Persie has picked up his form from where he left at Arsenal. He has scored sixteen times this season and is at the top of goal scoring charts. Chicharito has been the super sub for Manchester United and he has notched up 8 goals so far this season. Rooney has scored seven goals so far, though he had some injuries and a dry run.
