The FIFA World Cup is one of those tournaments where the real ability of goalscorers are put to test, and since the inception of the tournament, a staggering number of 2208 goals have been scored leaving out the ongoing tournament.
The 1998 World Cup oversaw the highest number of goals scored by all the nations, with France topping the goal-scoring charts with 15 goals.
On the other hand, the 1954 FIFA World Cup had the highest goals per game average as only 16 teams participated that year with Hungary alone scoring 27 goals.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup has already seen 145 goals being scored, as we are still only halfway through the round of 16 matches. This number matches the total number of goals scored in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
