Europa League news: Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino concedes Borussia Dortmund defeat

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino said he was very disappointed with the 0-3 first leg defeat in the Europa League quarter-final against German football club Borussia Dortmund.

Marco Reus' brace and a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped Dortmund earn a 3-0 comprehensive win here on Thursday.

Thomas Tuchel's men maintained a 63 percent possession and had 20 attempts at goal as compared to three attempts by the second placed English Premier League side in a supremely dominant display.

"It was a bad day and we're very disappointed. We didn't play well. This can happen in football. They were better but I'm disappointed because we didn't play in the way we normally play," Pochettino told Tottenham's official website on Thursday.

"We can take some positives like good experience but I'm disappointed with the result because it's never good to lose 0-3."

"We will give our best in the return leg, it's difficult but we will try," he added.

The coach also heaped praise on the superior team that is only second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season.

"In front of us we have a very good team who would normally play in the Champions League, not the Europa League. That is their level," Pochettino reflected.
