Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen could leave if Spurs fail in Champions League qualification
Versatile Tottenham Hotspur center back has thrown is future at the club into doubt after admitting he might have to consider his options if the Spurs fail to achieve qualification to the UEFA Champions League next season.
The dream looks even more distant after they recently slumped to a 1-0 away defeat against Norwich, leaving them 6 points shy of Liverpool in fourth place.
When asked about his future, he said, “Those are always difficult questions,”
“What I want is to be playing in the Champions League with Tottenham, so I hope we get in this year.”
“Do I have a decision to make if we don’t? I can’t say anything about that.”
“Let’s see after the end of the season, after the World Cup.”
The Belgian joined the North London outfit from Ajax in 2012 for a bargain fee of 9.6 million pounds, and has since proved himself as a world class defender.
