Rumour: Tottenham Hotspur preparing to sell winger Andros Townsend
Tottenham winger Andros Townsend could be heading for the exit door as his club are planning a mass exodus of players at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old recently picked up an ankle injury against Stoke City which will keep him out for upto 10 weeks, ending his dream of appearing in this years World Cup in the process.
Townsend was offered to Southampton as a player plus cash deal for their star winger Adam Lallana.
Liverpool have seemingly dashed Tottenham’s plans for a player swap as they are said to be keen on acquiring the services of Lallana. In spite of the new development Townsend may still be a Southampton player next season as the Saints are impressed with his talent.
The England international earned a bumper new contract with Tottenham last October after his impressive displays for the Three Lions against Montenegro and Poland and even scored against the former.
Townsend currently earns £24,000 per week at Tottenham but could earn more if he switches clubs.
The London club may also part ways with Gylfi Sigurdsson, Nacer Chadli and Paulinho after their less than impressive displays this season.
