Tottenham, Liverpool interested in bringing Andre Schurrle back to Premier League

Schurrle had played in the Premier League with Chelsea

Wolfsburg winger Andre Schurrle has emerged as a summer transfer for Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

The 25-year-old was at Chelsea for two-and-a-half seasons from 2013 and in the January transfer window of 2015, he left the west London club and returned to Germany. He reunited with former Chelsea teammate Kevin De Bruyne at Wolfsburg. The Belgium international returned to the Premier League after joining Manchester City last summer.

According to German publication Kicker, Schurrle is unhappy with his current employers and has set his sights on returning to England. The situation has alerted both the north London club and also Jurgen Klopp's side, who are looking to strengthen their squad in the summer.

The German international provided the crucial assist for Mario Gotze in their 1-0 victory over Argentina in the World Cup final. He has the potential to trouble the opposition defenders but was not given the right opportunities by Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Schurrle refused to comment on the recent speculations linking him with a move to the Premier League. However, he admitted that he will hold talks with his current employers after the end of the campaign and hinted a move away from the Bundesliga outfit could be on the cards.

"Right now this is not a topic for me to discuss as we have important games to go. But after that we have to talk about the future - it's clear that there might be some changes," Schurrle told Sky.

Wolfsburg are struggling in Germany's top flight club competition as they sit 10th in the league table with 39 points after 31 games. They are set to miss out on European competition and the winger is unhappy with the situation, reports the Mirror.

A move to Tottenham will see him feature in the Champions League as the north London club are set to secure a place in Europe's top flight club competition. Mauricio Pochettino has made the White Hart Lane club genuine title contenders this season and that could be an incentive for him to join them.

Liverpool can qualify for the next season's Champions League if they manage to win the Europa League this season. Should that happen, then both the Reds and Tottenham could fight for Schurrle's signature.

The same report also suggests that Schurrle is unhappy with Wolfsburg manager Dieter Hecking and has set his sights on leaving the club when the transfer window reopens.
