Tottenham transfer roundup: Man Utd attempt to negotiate for Spurs star, Anthony Martial tops Poch's priority list and more - May 21, 2018
Hello and welcome to the Tottenham transfer roundup for the day! We have a bit of an upgrade this time around as there are three stories regarding the best club in London this season.
To summarise, there is a bit about Toby Alderweireld, Ryan Sessegnon and Anthony Martial as Spurs head towards a relatively busy summer transfer window. So without further ado, let’s begin.
Sessegnon to Spurs
This trail had gone cold recently but The Telegraph have reignited it. The teenager took the Championship by storm this season and was awarded the Championship Player of the Year honour for his efforts.
As a result, Premier League clubs are eying him and if the aforementioned report from The Telegraph is to be believed, then it is being claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are at the front of the queue to sign the Fulham star that bosses the left-side of the pitch.
Alderweireld update
Manchester United need a strong and solid defender after Victor Lindelof failed to do what was expected of him after his move from Benfica. As a result, Jose Mourinho has been vehemently searching for a new defender to strengthen the defence and there seems to be none better an option than Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgian defender was, at one point in time, arguably the best defender in the world but has gone a little under due to his injuries. However, he might get back to that zone should he move to United and become a mainstay in their defence.
As it turns out, the Red Devils are negotiating a £55 million deal for the Belgian, according to MEN.
Anthony Martial chase
Spurs apparently do not want to sign another specialist striker after their failure with Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente. Such has been their form that Spurs are now looking to sell them.
As a result, Pochettino is looking for someone who can play as a number 10 and also on the wings instead of just a pure striker – which is why his main target right now is none other than Anthony Martial, say Evening Standard.
