Tottenham transfer roundup: Update on Eriksen to Barcelona, Spurs and Man Utd target frustrated over failed move and more - 18 May 2018
Hello and welcome to the Tottenham transfer roundup for the day! This has been a relatively drab day but with a bit of spark here and there. So, without further ado, let’s begin!
Janssen to leave?
Vincent Janssen joined Tottenham with many expectations. He was supposed to be the proper man to be a backup to Harry Kane. He, however, failed to make it up and had to be loaned out by the London outfit.
And now, Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that reports from the Netherlands believe that his former club AZ Alkmaar want him back in Eredivisie. He is also said to be very interested in moving back to his home country.
Eriksen speaks
Christian Eriksen is the heart that beats for Tottenham Hotspur. His influence in the history of Spurs can’t be understated. He has been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League over the last few years, which is why Mundo Deportivo earlier claimed that he has been contacted by Barcelona.
He has, however, dismissed those links as mere rumours.
“They have not called. It’s just rumours,” he told Fyens.
Lemina link
Ever since joining Southampton from Juventus, Mario Lemina has dazzled the Premier League with his enchanting displays at the St. Mary’s. It is for this reason that some of the big boys in the league are after him.
One of them, according to Footmercato is Tottenham Hotspur. Mauricio Pochettino is apparently spellbound by him and wants him at the club, which we could infer as a potential Mousa Dembele replacement.
Spurs rejected by Ajax
Manchester United target Justin Kluivert vented his frustration at not being allowed to sign for Spurs last summer and then loaned back to Ajax for two years.
"I heard that at the last minute," Kluivert told Volkskrant . "That says nothing about Ajax, but about the people in the club. Somewhere they were laughing. You see how the football world works.
"If you get higher up, it looks like a game. They do what they want. I'm getting that feeling again now: they do what they want.
"I had two years contract and thought, 'Do it.' My idea was to stay. But then it turns out different."#1 Spurs rejected by AjaxExcelsior v Ajax - Dutch Eredivisie
Kluivert Frustrated
Manchester United target Justin Kluivert vented his frustration at not being allowed to sign for Spurs last summer and then loaned back to Ajax for two years. Kluivert was particularly upset about the club hierarchy doing as they please and showing no regard to his wish.
"I heard that at the last minute," Kluivert told Volkskrant . "That says nothing about Ajax, but about the people in the club. Somewhere they were laughing. You see how the football world works.
