Welcome to our daily transfer rumours round-up. Today could be the day which finally sees the end of Paul Pogba’s long-running transfer saga to Manchester United. The Frenchman is currently undergoing his medical at Carrington Training Complex.

Arsenal are targeting a German youngster to bring defensive cover after Gabriel’s ankle injury while there is a new club in the race to sign Christian Benteke this summer.

Meanwhile, the actual reason for Real Madrid backing out from Pogba’s race has been revealed as well. On that note, here are the transfer news and rumours doing the rounds on August 8th.


Serie A

- Cagliari have reached a deal for Juventus wing-back Mauricio Isla, who could have a medical tomorrow. Sky Italia are convinced of the deal which suggests £4.5m transfer fee with Isla getting €700,000 per season for the next three years.

- Inter Milan have appointed Frank De Boer as their new manager after Roberto Mancini was sacked earlier this week. De Boer will be unveiled as the new Inter boss later today.

- AS Roma have completed Thomas Vermaelen’s signing on an initial 2-year loan deal from Barcelona. The Belgian international was also linked with a move to West Ham but Vermaelen agreed to join Serie A side. The move can be made a permanent one after the end of his 2-year loan move.

- Sampdoria are eyeing a move for Liverpool's Lucas Leiva, according to reports from Football Italia. Serie A club are determined to sure up their midfield with Chievo's Lucas Castro and Udinese's Bruno Fernandes as the other options.
