Transfer rumours round up of the week
Liverpool could turn to Spartak Moscow’s Brazilian midfielder Romulo who has also been scouted by Arsenal and Chelsea, after learning that Lucas Leiva could miss up to two months with a knee injury. However, he may be a little rusty having missed the best part of 18 months with a serious knee injury. Romulo has played just six games for Spartak, scoring twice. (Daily Express)
Stoke City striker Peter Crouch could be re-united with former manager Harry Redknapp who hopes to take the 32-year-old to Queens Park Rangers. Crouch played for Redknapp at Southampton and Portsmouth. The England international has won 156 headed duels this season. (Daily Mirror)
Monaco striker Lacina Traore, 23, could still be allowed to move to Everton despite a serious injury to his team-mate Radamel Falcao. The move had been cast in doubt as Falcao’s knee injury may have prevented Monaco from allowing Traore to leave. He scored just once in the Russian Premier League this season. (Liverpool ECHO)
Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse has rejected the chance to join Borussia Monchengladbach on loan, which could scupper Alan Pardew’s attempt to sign the German club’s 23-year-old striker Luuk De Jong. Cisse has scored just nine goals since the start of last season. (Daily Mail)
Chelsea captain John Terry is resigned to leaving the club at the end of the season. His contract expires once the season finishes and there is yet to be any significant talks over a renewal. Terry has won 66% of his headed duels this season – 66/100. (Daily Mirror)
Striker Javier Hernandez wants to quit Manchester United because the 25-year-old Mexican fears a lack of first-team action could end his World Cup hopes. Danny Welbeck is the preferred choice centrally when Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney are not available for David Moyes. Hernandez has just two goals to his name in four starts this season. Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is ready to end his interest in Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan after having a £1m bid rejected. There were reports a while ago that Hoolahan had handed in a transfer request in an attempt to push through a move to Villa. Hoolahan has completed 13/20 take-ons in the Premier League this season. David Moyes has flown over to Germany to attend the Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Monchengladbach match where he is likely to be taking a look at the likes of Max Kruse, Granit Xhaka, Dante and Patrick Herrmann. Xhaka has completed the most passes (1090) in the Bundesliga this season. (Metro)
Arsenal are ready to make a last ditch bid to sign Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler before next week’s transfer deadline. The Gunners have been chasing him for quite some time and there were reports this morning that they’d placed a bid of around £35 million. Draxler has completed 72 take-ons in just 14 matches. (Metro)
Tottenham have joined the race for highly-coveted midfielder Fredy Guarin. The Colombian has attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Juventus. They’ve apparently made an £8.2 million bid. (Daily Express)
