Paris Saint-Germain transfer rumour: PSG prepare bumper offer to sign Neymar next summer
Paris Saint-Germain are planning a huge offer for Neymar as they increase their efforts to sign the Brazilian forward. According to reports, PSG are planning a whopping €200m offer to bring the player to Parc Des Princes next summer.
The French champions turned their attention to Neymar after an unsuccessful attempt at signing Cristiano Ronaldo and club owners Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Olivier Letang made a €40m a year offer to the player last window which was eventually declined by the Catalan striker who decided to sign a new contract at Barcelona for an estimated €25m a year net salary.
PSG are trying to regain their strong footing after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure to Manchester United. The club did not make any effort to replace the Swede this summer and consequently, Edinson Cavani was left to shoulder the burden, being the only centre-forward in the team.

The Uruguayan forward has performed well so far, however, he has been inconsistent with his form. Thus, the club now need an additional option in the front line and have deemed Neymar their best choice in bringing balance and strength back to Parc Des Princes.
How would he fit in?
Neymar would be an immediate success at PSG with his dribbling, finishing, creativity and technique. Often described as both electric and explosive, Neymar’s presence in the squad would provide Unai Emery with an option to cover the left flank with Angel Di Maria covering the right and Cavani up front. If the move were to take place, it would be Lucas Moura who would have to make way for the 24-year-old.
Although the player refused to accept PSG’s offer last window, their sparse spending points towards saving up funds to match up to the player’s €222m release clause next season. Moreover, the amount is subject to increase to €250m in 2018, subsequently, his wage too will increase significantly. Thus, the summer of 2017 will be crucial for the French club in their pursuit of the Brazilian forward.
Stadium debt to force sales
While there is little concern at Barcelona regarding PSG’s interest in one of their prized assets, club officials remain preoccupied with a big project coming up that concerns the Camp Nou itself. The famous ground is set for a renovation next summer and if reports are to be believed then the modernization of the ground will impact the playing budget.
This may force Barca to let go of Neymar and Messi, provided that history repeats itself, when around 60 years ago Barca sold Luis Suarez to Italy to cover the construction cost of the Camp Nou. If this happens, PSG will be the first one to try and acquire the Brazilian’s services.
