Turkey vs Georgia Prediction and Betting Tips | June 18th 2024

Turkey will square off against Georgia at Signal Iduna Park in their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign opener on Tuesday. Georgia will play their first-ever match at the European Championships while Turkey will play in the group stage for the sixth time.

Turkey have seen a drop in form recently and are winless in their last five games in all competitions, suffering three losses. They played out a goalless draw against Italy in a friendly earlier this month but lost 2-1 to Poland last Monday. They lost all three games in the group stage of Euro 2020 and will look to improve upon that record.

Georgia booked their place in the group stage of the competition for the first time after defeating Greece 4-2 on penalties in the qualification playoffs. They continued their winning run in their pre-Euro friendly against Montenegro last week, recording a 3-1 win.

Otar Kiteishvili and Georges Mikautadze scored in the first half while Budu Zivzivadze added the third goal in the 83rd minute, after coming off the bench.

2016 champions Portugal and the last edition's quarterfinalists Czech Republic are the other two teams in Group F, so the debutants have their work cut out for them.

Turkey vs Georgia Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

  • The two teams have met each other five times in all competitions, with three meetings being friendlies. As expected, Turkey have the better record in these meetings with three wins. The Crusaders have just one win and one meeting has ended in a draw.
  • Three of the five meetings between them have produced over 2.5 goals.
  • The Crescent-Stars have suffered defeats in six of their last seven games in the European Championships, failing to score in four games in that period.
  • The Crusaders have suffered just one loss in their last seven games while recording five wins.

Turkey vs Georgia Prediction

Ay-Yıldızlılar have suffered three losses in four games in 2024 and will look to bounce back with a win in this match. Their recent record in the European Championship is also a cause for concern, with just one win in seven games while scoring four goals in that period.

Vincenzo Montella will be without the services of Fenerbahce duo Ismail Yuksek and Ferdi Kadioglu for the campaign opener as they are not 100% match fit.

Jvarosnebi have a 100% record in 2024, keeping two clean sheets in three games. They have scored at least two goals in five of their last seven games and will look to build on that form. Nonetheless, they are making their debut in the European Championships and nerves might get the better of them here.

With that in mind, we expect this match to end in a stalemate.

Prediction: Turkey 1-1 Georgia
