EPL 2016/17: Turning down Tottenham Hotspur for Chelsea was the best moment of my life, says Willian
Chelsea football club’s Brazilian midfielder, Willian has stated that turning down Tottenham Hotspur for the Blues was the best decision of his life. The 28-year-old midfielder also revealed that playing for Chelsea had always been his dream and that was one of the main reasons behind him snubbing a move to White Hart Lane in 2013.
In a video interview with Chelsea football club’s YouTube channel, Willian expressed his thoughts about his move to the London club: “I don't know how I can explain that moment. But it was the best moment I think in my life when I signed with Chelsea because it was my dream to come here.”

Willian also said that he is happy at Stamford Bridge and that winning titles and representing the London team is a great honour.
“When I came, I am very, very happy to play for Chelsea, to win titles here, so I am very, very happy.
“Yes, it was difficult (to turn down Tottenham). But I didn't sign. When at the last moment Chelsea call me, I say I'm sorry, but I go to Chelsea, that's my dream. I have to go there, I don't care. I go there,” said the Brazilian midfielder.
Tottenham almost signed the Brazilian international after agreeing personal terms and undergoing a medical with the club, but the 28-year-old snubbed a £30 million deal to join Chelsea instead on a five-year contract. Jose Mourinho was partly influential in Willian’s move to the Stamford Bridge after the Portuguese manager approached him before his move to White Hart Lane was finalised.
The move to Chelsea turned out to be the right decision for Willian as he went on to lift the Premier League trophy under Jose Mourinho and also won the club’s Player of the Year award last season. The Brazilian also won the hearts of many Chelsea fans with his impressive performances for the club despite their miserable campaign last season.

Willian has so far scored three goals in 10 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League this season, despite losing his place in the first team to Pedro Rodriguez.
Chelsea have managed to turn around its fortunes after a disastrous campaign last season, thanks to their new manager Antonio Conte.
The Blues top the Premier League table with 34 points from 14 games so far this season and also have the second best defensive record in the league. Antonio Conte’s team will take on West Brom in their next league outing on Sunday.
