TV distribution rights show EPL ahead of other leagues, Real Madrid and Barcelona hold duopoly
A recent study of figures released show that in the 2013/14 season, the equal distribution of TV rights money in the Premier League means that teams get more or less the same amount, depending on the number of games showed live.
But in comparison to the Spanish La Liga, the big two of Real Madrid and Barcelona get more than double the TV money compared to their nearest competitor.
Both Spanish giants raked in €140m per season while the next best in third place was Valencia who got only €48m – that is almost €30m less than what the 20th placed team in the Premier League got (Cardiff got €74.5m)!
The German Bundesliga is also not far behind the Premier League with respect to equal distribution for live matches, but they too earn far less than the Premier League, which is marketed a lot more around the world.
The Premier League itself gets €1.12 billion more than La Liga in TV money every season.
