Tweets: Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere and Podolski react to Arsenal’s incredible win over Marseille
A solid performance amidst of all the missed chances saw the Gunners win 2-0 at home against a depleted Marseille side who are yet to open their account in this year’s Champions League campaign. The match started off at a blistering pace and before you know Jack Wilshere scored the opening goal of the match under the first minute with Arsenal’s first shot on goal.
Half way into the second half and Jack Wilshere popped up once again thanks to some good work from Ramsey who found Ozil inside the box and the German laid a pin point cross to the English man who slotted in Arsenal’s second and marking his first two-goal haul of his career. And although Arsenal never looked threatening in their attacks, they never had to and nor did the visiting Marseille who kept Szczesny at bay almost the entire game. Overall a good solid performance from Arsenal and not to say another clean sheet at home.
The Gunners now lead the table with 12 points from the 5 games they have played and will be travelling to the city of Naples to play Rafa Benitez Napoli on the final day of the group stages. Napoli after their defeat to Dortmund last night are tied on points with the German side.
Arsenal are well on course to progress through to the knockout stages until something dramatic happens on the final day. Have a look at these permutations on what would happen if Napoli, Dortmund and Arsenal all finish with 12 points.
Meanwhile Arsenal stars took to Twitter to react on the game.
Five games – 12 points. Wonderful. But still one step to go,
