Real Madrid v Ajax - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Second Leg

Ajax beat Real Madrid 4-1 in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. For Ajax, the goals were scored by Hakim Ziyech, David Neres, Dusan Tadic and Lasse Schone. For Real Madrid, their only goal was scored by Marco Asensio.

An aggregate score of 5-3 in favor of the Dutch team sent them through to the next round of the competition and Cristiano Ronaldo fans got another opportunity to troll Real Madrid.

Ajax started the match on fire as they scored early through Ziyech. Tadic found Ziyech with a cut back and his goal made it 2-2 on aggregate. In the 18th minute, Ajax scored their second after a brilliant piece of skill from Tadic. The Dutch international sent David Neres through on goal and the winger slotted it past Thibaut Courtois to make it 3-2 on aggregate.

The first half belonged to Ajax as they dominated Real Madrid. They had a few more opportunities in the half to make it 3-0, but couldn't take them. Real Madrid hit the bar through Gareth Bale who was substituted on for the injured Lucas Vazquez.

In the second half, Real Madrid started with more intensity and created more chances. But they just couldn't find the decisive goal. Soon, Ajax started coming back into the match and missed two to three glorious opportunities to make it 3-0 on the day. Karim Benzema missed another clear opportunity around the hour mark and it felt like Los Blancos weren't going to score on the night.

Ajax were carving open Real Madrid's defense at will and it was delightful football to watch. Around the 63rd minute, Tadic scored a brilliant goal to make it 4-2 on aggregate, but it was speculative as the ball had looked like it had gone for a throw-in in the build-up.

Real Madrid then got one back through Marco Asensio who made it 4-3 on aggregate. Ajax then minutes later scored their 4th of the night. Lasse Schone scored an absolutely stunning free-kick to make it 5-3 on aggregate.

In the end, Ajax held on and gave us one of the biggest Champions League upsets of this century.
