Twitter explodes as Chelsea knock Tottenham Hotspur out of FA Cup

Eden Hazard celebrates after scoring against Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea knocked out Tottenham Hotspur from the FA Cup after recording a 4-2 win over their local rivals in the semi-final. The Blues took the lead through Willian in the 5th minute who curled a wonderful free-kick past Hugo Lloris from just outside the box.

Spurs equalised through Harry Kane but Antonio Conte’s took the lead once again after they were awarded a contentious penalty for a foul on Victor Moses, Willian stepped up to send Lloris the wrong way. Mauricio Pochettino's side equalised once again, this time through Dele Alli, who bundled home Christian Eriksen's pinpoint cross.

Conte was ridiculed in the build up after he decided to bench superstar duo of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa for the game but the Belgian came on and proved to be the deciding factor as he scored Chelsea’s 3rd with a decent finish from inside the box with his left foot. The 26-year-old then set up Nemanja Matic, who fired home a 30-yard thunderbolt to make it 4-2 and seal the win for his side.

The loss was Tottenham’s 7th successive defeat in the semi-final of the FA Cup – a rather infamous record that the North London outfit now have to their name and Twitter didn’t hold back in trolling them. Here are the best tweets:
